Academic Training

We help our students reach their true intellectual potential and instill a spirit of academic responsibility in our students, enabling the acquisition of competencies, knowledge, procedures, and techniques to tackle the challenges of higher education.

The sixth form curriculum consists of compulsory subjects in both years,  two optional subjects in the first year and then specialised pathways.

Through combinations of pathway subjects, 18 different itineraries can be pursued.

All pathway subjects studied in the second year of sixth form and Spanish literature (first year) are assessable in the University Entrance Examinations (PAU).

Specific Characteristics of the Pathways

Arts Pathway

Students engage in activities specific to this pathway in the workshop or in the IT classroom. We work:

  • In small groups.
  • With materials provided by the School, ensuring equal opportunities for all and no discrepancies in the quality of materials used.
  • In groups for filming in Audiovisual Culture.
  • With state-of-the-art equipment and software programs.

Science and Technology Pathway

We believe that, for optimal preparation for future university studies, all students should have a solid foundation in the three core subjects of this pathway; therefore, they must study Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

  • Work is done in groups which are divided.
  • Participation in workshops at the University in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Laboratory practice at the School.
  • Participation in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics Olympiads, Kangaroo Mathematics competitions, with very good results obtained

Social Sciences and Humanities Pathway

Various combinations of subjects are proposed in the first and second year, providing many options for future higher education.

  • Participation in forums and current affairs conferences.
  • Business workshops are conducted.
  • Participation in Geography, Philosophy, and Economics Olympiads.
  • Participation in literary contests with very satisfactory results

Pedagogical and Organizational Approach

Our approach to training and competence variables encourages students to delve deeper into each task, resulting in a significant improvement in their classroom performance. Outstanding performance in the first and second years of Sixth Form, as well as in University Entrance Examinations, enables over 90% of our students to enroll not only on their desired course but also in their first-choice university.

Our schedules, from 8 am to 2:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from 8 am to 3 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, allow students to balance their studies with other activities.

Evaluation is carried out in relation to the final objectives of each subject, with continuous assessment and systematic observation of the learning process. The teaching staff, under the coordination of the group tutor, acts collectively throughout the evaluation process and in making relevant decisions.

Personal Growth

We aim for comprehensive education, seeking to enrich students personally and socially. Through various subjects, we focus on fostering values such as self-esteem, confidence, responsibility, and critical thinking. Through practical workshops and collaborations with professionals, we expose students to university life and the professional world.

Weekly tutoring covers group dynamics and guidance for higher education. With active student participation in course councils, we promote democratic engagement. We provide a comprehensive guidance program and participate in social solidarity projects. An educational plan that aims for personal growth and social integration of students

Social and Cultural Training

We promote extracurricular education as an enriching extension of formal learning. We believe that sociocultural experience is essential for student development, fostering mature and responsible coexistence.

In Sixth Form, we achieve this through various activities, such as celebrating festivals and traditions, cultural outings related to music, art, and literature, as well as interdisciplinary projects and activities focused on environmental respect and sustainability. The start-of-term tutorial outing, cultural days (three days where we introduce our students to academic, social, and cultural topics through conferences, debates, talks, workshops, outings) and literary events (held around St. George’s Day, featuring student-prepared and performed theatrical productions and conferences by renowned writers), all serve to broaden students’ horizons.

We also encourage international exchanges (in the first year) and organize an end-of-school trip (in the second year) to strengthen group relationships, responsibility, and respect for essential values in students’ comprehensive education.

Diversity Support in Sixth Form

We highlight the following features of our approach:

  • Personalized Plans and Strategies: We develop specific work plans to address individual student needs, ensuring a learning experience tailored to each style and pace.
  • English Classes in Small Groups: We encourage an interactive and effective learning environment through English classes in small groups, allowing for better interaction and personalized attention.
  • Integration of iPads as a Pedagogical Resource: We use technology as an educational tool, incorporating iPads to enhance the learning experience and provide additional resources.
  • Comprehensive Support: We provide both academic and emotional support, ensuring that each student feels supported at all times during their time in Sixth Form.
  • Continuous Tutorial Monitoring: We establish continuous tutorial monitoring of students to ensure they are up to date with their academic goals and offer assistance in any necessary area.
  • Educational Guidance Service: We have an educational guidance service that reinforces tutorial work and guides students in their choice of future studies. This service has a dual function to ensure that each student is well-guided in their academic and personal journey.
